Here are some headlines that caught my eye …
For all my high fashion friends, Marc Jacobs announced today that he was stepping down as creative director of Louis Vuitton. Word has it that Marc is leaving to focus on taking his own line public. Last year fellow designer Michael Kors took his brand public and has since achieved much success. Under Marc’s 16 year tenure, Louis Vuitton became one of the most lucrative fashion houses in the world mostly thanks to his creation of a ready-to-wear line. No word on who will replace him.
Four yeas after his death, a jury decided that concert promoter AEG is not liable for Michael Jackson’s death. The verdict was read after three days of deliberations and a five-month trial.
Jackson family lawyers allege that the agreement between Dr. Conrad Murray and AEG created a conflict of interest, and that Murray felt pressured to deliver risky treatments. They also claim that concert promoter executives displayed negligence in their management of Murray and ignored warning signs that Jackson’s health was on the decline.
AEG attorneys maintain they had no reason to believe Murray was endangering Jackson’s life in any way.
“AEG Live did not have a crystal ball. Dr. Murray and Mr. Jackson fooled everyone,” attorney Marvin Putnam argued in court. “AEG would have never agreed to finance this tour if they knew Mr. Jackson was playing Russian roulette in his bedroom every night.”
