Congrats to Nipsey Hussle. Word is he’s sold 60 copies of $1,000 mixtape Mailbox Money as of Tuesday (Jan. 20).
The 15-song project features Rick Ross and K Camp as well as production from Hit-Boy and DJ Mustard. Even more impressive is the fact that the project is available free online.
“It surprises me,” he recently told The Guardian. “As much as I believe in it. Every time I get a transaction, I get a text on my phone, and I’ve been hitting them back. The feedback and the connection I have with these people help me understand the psychology of the person paying $1,000 for some songs that, realistically, you could download for free.”
This of course isn’t the first time Nipsey has pulled off an impressive campaign. Back in 2013, he sold 1,000 copies of his project Crenshaw at $100 a pop. Impressed by his hustle, Jay Z reportedly copped 100 units.
