According to published reports, Apple has purchased UK-based startup Semetric, an analytics company. This comes ahead of Apple’s relaunch of Beats Music, scheduled for later this year.
Founded in 2008, Semetric is responsible for the Musicmetric analytics tool, a means by which many major and independent labels track their music online, including through streaming services such as Spotify. The tool also takes into account social media data, Youtube plays, and even illegal avenues like BitTorrent pirating.
No confirmation yet from Apple.
