Well this is unexpected. Danny Brown has made the leap from musician to children’s book author.
Revealing the news to Australia’s Triple J radio, the Detroit rapper explained the book is based on the experience of watching his 13-year-old daughter grow up.
“It’s something for my daughter… I’ve got to finish it though, I want it to be real Dr. Seuss-y. The Grinch, Green Eggs And Ham, and One Fish, Two Fish,” Brown told Triple J.
“It’s been taking me forever to finish. It’s really about self-esteem in black girls, I guess,” Brown said. “You know how black women do so much — process their hair, change their eye color. It’s really about a little girl who does all these things to herself and changes herself and she realizes she’s just better off the way she is.”
My two-cents: Well that sounds nice. Good luck to that brother.
