Roc Nation Sports will premiere its debut boxing event – “throne boxing” – on Jan. 9, 2015 on Fox Sports 1 at 10 p.m. ET.
Blending the matchup with live music, the sporting event will be highly unorthodox, said David Itskowitch, COO of Boxing for Roc Nation Sports in an interview with Billboard.
“It’s going to have a lot of bells and whistles that you don’t normally see on events that are televised on basic cable. We’re gonna be hitting the pause button and a big-name artist will perform in the arena,” Itskowitch said. “That’s a bold thing that’s never been done before.” The guest performer, including a special DJ, will be announced at a later date.
The bout will be held at Madison Square Garden. Tickets go on sale Dec. 9 at Ticketmaster.
