Here’s some random -ish for you.
This weekend I stumbled upon an old school rap mix and my jam – “The Glamorous Life” by Cool C – was playing. As I go to pull a pic up to post my IG page, I come across the following…Cool C to be executed on Jan 8.
What the what?
So the story is he’s been in prison for the last 18 years following a 1996 murder and robbery conviction. He came to fame as a rapper and his most notable track was “The Glamorous Life” and his Juice Crew diss which was aimed at Big Daddy Kane and producer Marley Marl.
In 1996, the now 44-year-old rapper was involved in a bank robbery along with fellow group member Steady B. (I remember Steady B too…) The botched heist of a PNC bank led to the death of Police Officer Lauretha Vaird. Both men were arrested for the crime. Cool C was originally sentenced to die by lethal injection March 9, 2006 but was granted a stay by the governor of Pennsylvania. Steady B continues to serve a life sentence for his role in the crime.
Cool C has never spoken publicly about his robbery case but has maintained his innocence since being sentenced despite evidence linking him to the murder.
This is crazy. If you can’t remember the song, check out the video below. If you know hip-hop I know you’ve heard the song before.
