Roc Nation Sports Adds Dez Bryant

dezBWell Dez Bryant has a new agent. The all-pro Dallas Cowboy receiver just became a new client of Roc Nation Sports.

It’s the second time in Dez’ five-year career that he’s parted ways with agent Eugene Parker. Parker was Bryant’s agent when the receiver came into the league in 2010 before being let go in December 2011 for Drew Rosenhaus. However, Bryant’s relationship with Rosenhaus didn’t last long and rehired Parker in August 2012.

The move to Roc Nation could throw in a wrench in Bryant’s upcoming contract negotiations. According to multiple reports, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones didn’t want Bryant to sign with Roc Nation.

Dez is being paid $1.78 million this season as he plays out the final year of his rookie deal.

It would make sense that his new deal would be for major money – especially since Dez indicated that before the season started.

“I believe a player should get paid what he deserves,” Bryant said in August. “If I’m top five, I’m top five. If I’m top three, I’m top three. If I’m top two, I’m top two. It is what it is.”

If Bryant’s demands are too high, or Jones refuses to negotiate with Roc Nation, that doesn’t mean Bryant will be leaving Dallas. As former agent Joel Corry points out, the Cowboys do have an option to keep Bryant if negotiations go sour.

However this pans out, it’s a win for Roc Nation Sports. In the past last two months, they recently signed Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and the Boston Red Sox’s Yoenis Cespedes.
