So what ever happened to that Wu-Tang “Wu-Tang Forever Remix” we were supposed to get featuring Drake? Well the Clan recently offered a little insight about what exactly went down.
According to RZA, the Wu did record new verses, but “the energy wasn’t up to par” because they were touring Europe at the time. There also seems to be confusion over who actually recorded a verse, with Ghostface adding, “I didn’t really know what was going on, what it was about.” Still it was U-God who offered the most details:
I guess we kinda came too hard for him. He wanted us to talk about broads, and at that time, we wasn’t in no broad mode. We was hardbody. I think later on I was saying to myself, “what the hell was I rhyming about!?” Damn, we want to rhyme about some hardcore shit, he wants us to talk about some bitches!
We got the track last minute, so we had to write it real fast. No lie, I probably had about six hours to write this thing. At the time, I wasn’t feeling woman-y; I was feeling hard as nails. So, I wrote him a hard-as-nail rhyme, and we was talking about something totally different, so the subject matter didn’t really mesh.
But there’s no hard feelings. RZA said he was happy to see Drake take on the song title and “that energy,” and U-God said, “I don’t feel no type of weight about people that want to get close to us or share fans. … It’s supposed to be like that.”
“I like Drake, though,” Ghostface added. “I like him because he pays homage. But at the end of the day, he knows how to rhyme. He’s not weak.”
