Mike Brown Protest Interrupts St. Louis Symphony

mikebrownprotestI’m happy to see that the outrage and concern around Mike Brown’s tragic death was not a fad. The cause still continues and made a very public appearance last night (Oct 4).

Last night, demonstrators interrupted a performance by the St. Louis Symphony with a protest to the tune of Brahms Requiem called “Requiem for Mike Brown.” Slowly, a group of 50 protesters stood and sung lyrics in support of justice and equality:

“Justice for Mike Brown is Justice for us all/Which side are you on friend? Which side are you on,” the mixed group sang.

As their musical and peaceful protest continued, banners were then revealed from the balconies, reading “Requiem for Mike Brown,” “Racism lives here” and “Rise up and join the movement.”

“It is my duty and desire to try to reach out and raise that awareness peacefully but also to disrupt the blind state of white St. Louis, particularly among the people who are secure in their blindness,” organizer Sarah Griesbach told the St. Louis American.

The protest lasted barely 2 minutes. Watch the video:
