Surprise, surprise … there’s been another change of heart within the NFL camp.
The Vikings have reversed course now say running back Adrian Peterson will miss at least a second consecutive game so he can deal with legal issues.
The team announced its decision shortly before 2 a.m. ET Wednesday (yep I was still up). Peterson will be placed on the NFL’s exempt/commissioner’s permission list, which will bar him from all team activities.
This announcement comes after the Vikings general manager Rick Spielman told reporters that Peterson would be reinstated for the team’s game Sunday against the Saints.
“While we were trying to make a balanced decision yesterday, after further reflection we have concluded that this resolution is best for the Vikings and for Adrian,” the team said in its four-paragraph statement.
Peterson is facing a child abuse charge in Texas after being indicted by a grand jury.
My two-cents: The NFL needs serious crisis help. They totally botched up the Ray Rice scenario. While his behavior was deplorable, he certainly has a leg to stand on citing double jeopardy. Somehow CBS Sports President Sean McManus completely put his foot in his mouth when he said Rihanna’s history as a victim of domestic violence was part of the decision to drop her song of course sending her in an understandable rage. Anheuser-Busch has publicly reprimanded them. Now they’re playing footsies with this Adrian Peterson case. This is unbelievable.
