Late Sunday, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton and Mary Elizabeth Winstead were involved in what looks to be massive hacking scandal.
The snapshots first appeared on the online message board 4chan.
The photos of Lawrence include several topless shots in intimate positions as well as fully nude.
In two Upton selfies, she poses nude with her boyfriend, Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander, in a bathroom mirror.
A representative for Jennifer said the photos were stolen in a “flagrant violation of privacy.”
“The authorities have been contacted and we will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos,” the spokesman said in a statement posted Sunday on Lawrence’s Twitter account.
The mystery hacker behind the thefts claimed online that an Apple iCloud glitch allowed the stars’ smartphones to be hacked, the website Buzzfeed reported.
Apple had no comment.
The hacker boasted of having a sexually explicit video of Lawrence and was asking anyone wanting to see it to “donate at my paypal.” But the individual added a Hotmail address that appears to be fake.
Another victim, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, confirmed the photos were of her.
“To those of you looking at photos I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our home, hope you feel great about yourself,” Winstead, 29, tweeted Sunday.
“I can only imagine the creepy effort that went into this. Feeling for everyone who got hacked,” added the star of “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.”
Another star mentioned in last night’s leak include Ariana Grande. However, her reps have since leaked a statement noting that the pictures were a fake.
My two-cents: Surely Apple must own some accountability, if not the most. When Target’s account information was breached heads literally rolled with pink slips. I would think at minimum the same should occur at Apple. If I was Jennifer, Kate and Mary I would use all my energy to hit them in the pockets. While they’re out here thinking of the next expensive phone, they have other responsibilities which include creating decent privacy walls to protect data. It’s pretty sickening, that people don’t think of celebrities as real human beings. Some how the fact that they appear in movies and on the radio leads people to believe they have no feelings, morals or sense of privacy. Stealing data or photos like this is truly equivalent to being robbed and all involved should be prosecuted. Social media is getting out of control and accountability needs to be established. And one more thing…. Why were no men’s accounts hacked? The victimization of women is truly real.
