Hot 97 DJ Mister Cee Resigns

ceeSay it ain’t so … Hot 97 DJ Calvin “Mister Cee” Lebrun abruptly resigned today during his morning show several hours after a video was posted of him allegedly soliciting sex from a cross-dressing video-blogger named Bimbo Winehouse.

In the video, Winehouse was dressed in drag and turned on his phone after he was picked up off the street by a man he claims is Mister Cee. The pair drove around and negotiate prices for sex before the man drops Winehouse off on the street without anything happening.

Winehouse said he filmed the video “about a week or two ago.”

Cee denied being gay during an interview with the radio station’s program director Ebro Darden last May – just a week after he was arrest for allegedly soliciting an undercover police officer who was posing as a prostitute.

“It is not a mystery that the past two years I’ve been through a lot,” he said on the air today when announcing his resignation.

“When you dealing with corporate America, and you dealing with a station you love as much as I love this station, you don’t want to put them through this … I’ve been thinking about this day for a long time. I never want to be in a situation where I’m pushed out. I’ve been at this station for 20 years, since 1993. If I want to go out, allow me to say I’m going out. And the station is allowing me to have that, and I appreciate that,” he said.

“Ain’t nobody perfect man,” he said. “And I’m far from perfect. I’ve made my mistakes, but when it affects the people that you love, the people that you come up with … I’m just gonna move on.”

Lebrun’s run-in with a vice-cop last spring was his third bust in two years.

See Hot 97’s official statement on Mister Cee’s departure:

“Due to some personal circumstances that have become public, after 20 years of service, Mr Cee has chosen to resign. We feel that this is in the best interest of both HOT 97 and Cee’s personal well-being. While we do not endorse the alleged activities, he is clearly facing a personal dilemma that is for him and only him to comment on. We are saddened by his departure; his contributions here at HOT 97 were great and we know him as a friend, a caring individual and significant hip hop advocate. We wish Mr Cee the best and will always consider him a family member of HOT 97. Moments ago, he officially signed off, on the air and will finish out his last show today on September 11, 2013, an already sad day for New York City.” – Alexandra Cameron, SVP/General Manager of HOT97

Listen to his last minutes on the air.

Wow…I felt the heaviness in his heart.  That was pretty sad to me.  Despite all the drama of his personal life, you can’t replace 20 years of experience.  And his last song on the air ….. ”Shook Ones” by Mobb Deep. Dang ….
