Drizzy may not have turned up at this Sunday’s VMAs to receive his award for Best Hip-Hop Video of the Year, but he just gave an audience his acceptance speech.
During the duo’s Boston concert, Drake gave a half-serious, half-jokey acceptance speech for earning a Moonman thanks to his “Hold On, We’re Going Home” video.
After thanking God, his mother and Lil Wayne, Drake commented on winning Best Hip-Hop Video for an R&B song. “I know this is a hip-hop award and a lot of you out there are frustrated, like, ‘This is not a hip-hop song.’ And you know what? You’re right — I tricked you all,” Drake laughed. “Rappers, better luck next year. Thank you.”
