The ish hit the fan Thursday (Aug 21) when CNN’s Don Lemon interviewed Talib Kweli.
Talib noted that his trip’s purpose was to “control the narrative” because the media had been doing a “horrible job of making sure the stories get out.” Lemon then defended his employer and its around-the-clock coverage (as he should) but things got ugly quickly when Talib felt his point wasn’t being heard.
My two-cents: I’ve personally been watching Don for the past several days. He’s honestly done a great job at attempting to get the facts, get the voice of minorities heard all while being a very volatile environment. I get Talib’s point, be we have to learn how to articulate without taking it to the streets. I was embarrassed watching Talib.
