What’s new? Gucci Mane was sentenced Wednesday (Aug. 20) to serve three years and three months in prison after pleading guilty to a federal firearms charge from several months ago.
The judge also sentenced him to three years of supervised release with extra limitations on his travel during that time and a $5,000 fine.
“You’re still a young man, and you can still do a lot if you follow and abide by the law,” U.S. District Judge Steve C. Jones told Gucci.
Gucci’s lawyers requested that the judge consider giving him credit for 11 months served in the DeKalb County jail since his arrest in September. The judge said he would consider that but that he felt it was a matter for the Bureau of Prisons.
Gucci’s lawyer went on to add that Gucci has struggled with an addiction to lean (which is a mixture of cough syrup and soda) and asked that the judge recommend that he be sent to a facility with a recovery program.
Gucci’s current jail stay is a police call early Sept. 14. According to police report, Gucci smelled strongly of marijuana, cursed at them and threatened to shoot them.
