Hov gets his political support on.
Never one to shy away for a cause he’s passionate about, Hov has thrown his support behind Prop 47.
Prop 47, also known as the Safe Neighborhoods and School Act, aims to reduce the penalty for some non-violent crimes from felonies to misdemeanors to result in shorter sentences. The initiative would ultimately result is less crowded prisons and funding to be redirected into education, victim services, and mental health and drug treatment.
Author, activist, and friend of Hov, Dream Hampton posted a video of Hov in support for the act with the following comment. “Many of you know that I’ve joined with #VoteYeson47 and @mrmikedelarocha push through a California ballot initiative, Prop 47, that will change petty, nonviolent crimes from felonies to misdemeanors and reallocate prison spending to prevention and schools. Thousands of poor people will no longer have felony convictions for petty crimes. Tonight, after many recent conversations about mass incarceration, Jay Z stood with us, from the Rose Bowl stage.” This isn’t the first time Jay Z has used his music to serve as a political platform and certainly not the last. Check out the footage below of Jay making a stand for Prop 47. ”
