OutKast performed as the first night’s headline act for Drake’s 5th annual OVO Fest in Toronto.
Drake’s OVO Festival brought two days of major performances this year. The first of two nights on Sunday, was less about Drake (who is set to headline the following Monday night). Instead, it was more about celebrating OutKast’s reunion tour (Drizzy was spotted backstage, however.).
The festival kicked with a surprise opening set from rapper YG, who hit the stage around 7:40 p.m. The performance lasted 20 minute and after an 1 long of teasing, “We got a lot of surprises tonight.” Big Boi and Andre 3000 kicked off the night’s headlining set at an unexpectedly early hour of 9 p.m.
Despite the fact that they’ve done recent festivals, the two still found no reason to perform together beyond the usual trading of verses from their vast 20-year catalog. They were happy to be working their respective fan bases with little acknowledgement of each other.
