Trey Songz has secured his second #1 album on Billboard’s Top 200 selling 105,000 copies of his LP Trigga in the week ending July 6.
Trey’s first top selling album, the 2012 LP Chapter V, sold 135,000 copies upon release.
Unfortunately, not everyone faired well. Robin Thicke’s Paula sold a modest 24,000 copies (#9 on Billboard). The album was Robing’s ode to estranged wife Paula Patton. The album sold especially poorly in the UK where it reportedly only sold 530 copies.
This is a far cry from Thicke’s 2013 Blurred Lines which sold 177,000.
I’m not surprised one bit by the sales numbers. I try to be mindful of not being overly negative about artists because I have a love of music, but I was on board with the Robin Thicke project. I found the whole “I’m sorry Paula” campaign insincere. It seemed as if he was cashing in on their relationship. I’m pleased to know I’m not overly cynical. Looks like other people felt the same vibe.
