Say it ain’t so. Could Jacob the Jeweler be in more legal hot water?
A current employee of Jacob’s company, Jacob and Co., is currently imprisoned for holding 27kg of illegally mined gold in Swaziland, Africa.
Jacob and Co. have a license to mine for gold in the Northern Hhohho region of the country. However, the company has been accused of illegally mining in the Lufafa Mountain region of the country, an area where the company could prospect for gold, but not actually mine. Any gold found in this area is should be turned over to the government, which Jacob and Co. reportedly did not do.
No word yet on this accusation could translate to, but it’s not his first time at the rodeo. In 2008, Jacob was convicted of money laundering charges and served a total of two years in prison.
