Here’s some news stories that caught my eye…
A$AP Charged. Say it ain’t so. A$AP Rocky has been slapped (no pun intended) with an assault charge in Philadelphia after allegedly slapping a female fan this weekend. The lady filed a criminal complaint with the District Attorney’s Office today claiming she was attending the Made In America concert on Saturday when A$AP got violent. Supposedly A$AP was trying to make his way through a crowd of fans — with a bunch of girls pulling on his shirt — when A$AP turned and fired off an open-hand slap. The woman claims she was injured from the alleged slap — suffering whiplash. The D.A.’s office reviewed the case and has decided to charge A$AP with misdemeanor simple assault. Now, I’m going to tread lightly here. All violence is wrong. No matter the scenario, A$AP can no go around slapping folk. But whiplash….really??? #IJS
Hov Sales Minority Share. New Head coach Jason Kidd is buying a portion of Jay Z’s minority share of the Brooklyn Nets. Surprisingly, there is no rule against coaches owning a stake in teams, but there is a rule against players or agents doubling as owners. Jay Z recently formed the agency Roc Nation and represents athletes including New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant and New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith. The value of the share being bought by Jason is $500,000 and represents one-sixth of 1 percent ownership of the team.
Whew… Jason. That’s a lot of pressure on your shoulders…considering you’ve never coached before. However….this could be job security. Part-owner and coach, #IJS.
Lamar Checks In Rehab. Following his DUI arrest on Aug. 30, Lamar Odom finally checked himself into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. This comes weeks after infidelity reports surfaced and days after a drug dealer revealed that Lamar allegedly purchased $16,000 worth of cocaine from him back in February.
