First YMCMB, now 50 Cent and his mentor Usher have stood up for Justin Bieber.
Now 50 Cent is the latest rapper to defend the Biebs Daily Mail reports.
“I don’t think he’s racist,’ he told UK paper The Sun. “I don’t think he even knows who he is at this point – he’s so young. When you see people become huge stars real early, it’s tough for them.”
“You have to grow up with all these expectations. I think Justin’s still a baby and he’s lost.”
Usher, his mentor and the man behind Bieb’s music career, has finally given his two cents on the controversial videos. On his Instagram, Usher posted a throwback photo with Bieber, and included the following caption:
“At my core, I am a person that supports growth and understands without judgement, that growth often comes as a result of pain and continues effort. As I have watched Justin Bieber navigate difficult waters as a young man, I can tell you that he hasn’t always chosen the path of his greatest potential, but he is unequivocally not a racist. What he was 5 years ago was a naive child who did not understand the negative power and degradation that comes from playing with racial slurs. What he is now is a young man faced with an opportunity to become his best self, an example to the millions of kids that follow him to not make the same mistakes.”
Good for them. What frustrates me is not what Bieber said, but the absolute self-rightousness and lack of compassion from others. This kid just turned 20 about a month or so ago, so he’s juuuust leaving his teenage years. Yep, he said it. There’s no denying it, but really do we think Bieber does not admire or respect Black people? I’ll wait for you to be honest with yourself. I’m shocked that so many people have never in their lives done anything remotely wrong in the privacy of friends/ family. Perhaps people are more perfect than I ever suspected.
