Oh Biebs .. you knew this day would come.
A video of a young (15-ish) Biebs making a racist joke has made its way to the net. In the 40-second clip, the singer asks
“Why are Black people afraid of chainsaws? Run n—- n—- n—–.” While telling the joke, one friend urges him not to finish the joke and another suggests that the sound of a motorcycle works for the joke as well.
Hmmm … this is bad, clearly racist and in bad taste. But I honestly don’t feel like he is a racist. I just don’t. I think you understand he embraces and idolizes African-Americans when you listen to his music and observe the company he keeps. The N-word and it’s power has clearly evolved over the years. For some it’s hurtful and mean not matter what the context, but now you have a younger generation who use it when addressing a friend, a person in general or even in jest. It’s a slippery slope that I could go on and on about, but my initial thought of the Biebs remains. Justin do better sir. Everyone is watching.
