Apple is “closing in” on what would be its largest ever acquisition, a potential $3.2 billion purchase of Beats Electronics.
Beats – primarily known as the popular high-end headphone maker – was founded in 2008 by rapper-turned-businessman Dr. Dre and music producer Jimmy Iovine. The company also operates a new streaming music service.
The Forbes topper would make $1 billion from the deal. This would mean that Apple would also own Beats Music, a direct competitor to their own iTunes Radio.
No formal word yet from Apple, Dr. Dre or Jimmy Iovine.
