After ten years, Monica Lewinsky has resurfaced. Remember her? She “serviced” former President Bill Clinton while in office.
At the time, she became a staple name-drop in songs about fellatio. Now 10 years after the infamous White House scandal, she has broken her virtual silence in a new piece for Vanity Fair.
“It’s time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress,” she writes. “I am determined to have a different ending to my story. I’ve decided, finally, to stick my head above the parapet so that I can take back my narrative and give a purpose to my past. (What this will cost me, I will soon find out.)”
Sounds par for the course, right? Then the interview continues with a little cheekiness.
Clearly aware of her influence on pop culture, she playfully corrected Beyonce’s raunchy “Partition” line about a backseat rendezvous. “Thanks, Beyoncé, but if we’re verbing, I think you meant ‘Bill Clinton’d all on my gown,’ not ‘Monica Lewinsky’d.’”
SMH. I guess even she can laugh at her past “services.”
The full story will be available digitally May 8 and on stands May 13, but read a few more excerpts over at Vanity Fair.
