So Buffy the Vampire slayer (a.k.a. Sarah Michelle Gellar) has a real issue with KimYe appearing on the Vogue cover released this Friday, March 21.
“Well … I guess I’m canceling my Vogue subscription,” Gellar tweeted. “Who is with me???”
After the cover release, Vogue editor Anna Wintour defended her controversial choice in her Editor’s Letter.
“As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on Vogue’s cover. He did nothing of the sort.”
“Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a place for herself in the glare of the world’s spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that.”
Let’s all be honest, whether KimYe appears on the cover of Vogue will not solve any world problem or create one. It’s inconsequential and the very fact that Sarah feels the need to rally people together simply because she doesn’t prefer Anna’s choice is in plain words, the epitome of a “hater.”
Whether you like KimYe or not they are quite influential in pop culture. We could debate all day if that influence is positive or negative but it really exists. You can simply google the duo and a plethora of real articles will appear. Real articles about Kanye’s music, fashion choices, business partnerings. Real articles about Kim’s endorsement deals with O.P.I., Shoedazzle & Skechers, her Kardashian Kollection, Dash boutique, books, perfumes, bronzers and even an upcoming baby collection.
I have nothing against people voicing their opinion, my angst begins when people attempt to rally others together to belittle or harm them simply because they don’t prefer a choice. Anna’s choice was very valid. But because you don’t prefer it – a silly, little magazine cover – it’s necessary to rally the troops?
You know what … Who cares if Sarah unsubscribes. Honestly, this is the first time I’ve heard her name in years … when it was associated with the very duo she’s protesting. At the end of the day the cover still exists and she may want to thank KimYe for making her tweets worth discussing.
