Drake Parts with PR Firm after Rolling Stone Debacle

prince_drizzyWell this is interesting. It was revealed yesterday that Drake parted with his publicity firm, ID-PR, after his Rolling Stone interview fiasco. And to make it clear, ID-PR maintains they actually resigned.

Remember a couple of weeks ago, Drake lashed out at the publication for misquoting him and switching out the cover without informing him.

He later apologized on his blog. “I apologize to anybody who took my initial comments out of context because in no way would I ever want to offend the Hoffman family or see myself as bigger than that moment.”

However, clearly there was more occurring after the dust settled between Drake and ID-PR. In an official statement sent to Billboard, ID stated “Drake is an incredibly talented artist and we’re proud of our results for Nothing Was The Same and Would You Like A Tour? We wish him the best.”

Drake had been working with ID for the past year to handle publicity for his third album “Nothing Was The Same,” as well as his current Would You Like A Tour? which wraps March 26.

SMH, despite Drake’s admitted tantrum this seems like bad call for ID. They should have been a willing clean-up crew in the debacle. Isn’t that a critical role for PR?

Trust me, Drake isn’t crying over this relationship break-up. I’m pretty sure agencies are lined up. He’s winning right now … which means any agency that works with will be winning as well.
