I think it’s safe to say that rapper Azealia Banks isn’t happy with her record label.
Azealia took to Twitter during the Grammy Awards to announce that she was “begging to be dropped” by her label. She went on to add that she was “tired of having to consult a group of old white guys about my black girl craft”, and described her career at the moment as existing on “mixtape fumes for the past two years” while she awaits the delayed release of her debut album.
She then asks,”Can someone at Sony buy me off of Universal please?”, and puts out there that she’d like to instead sign with British indie label, XL (home to Adele). XL was interested in Azealia five years ago but she withdrew from that development deal, telling the BBC later: “This is not what I worked so hard my entire life to do – to be rejected by some English guy in West Bumblefrickin’ nowhere London, telling me I’m amateur or something like that. So I just said, ‘Screw you!’.”
No response so far from Universal.
Can someone at Sony buy me off of Universal please?? i’m really in hell here.

My fans really need some new music. I’ve been gratefully riding off of mixtape fumes for the past two years … http://t.co/oipI48CvBl
