The Dream has announced that he’s leaving Def Jam. Hints dropped yesterday when he made posts to his Instagram and Twitter accounts.
I will miss this logo. It all started here! Love Everything that I achieved there, EXODUS… http://t.co/jlVE9Jkekc

The-Dream began his tenure at the label back in 2007 as a solo artist, releasing his debut album Love Hate via Def Jam and his own imprint Radio Killa Records. After years of co-writing massive hits (including Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”), The-Dream was named Executive Vice President of A&R at Def Jam in 2012, giving him the power to produce as well as sign new acts to the label.
So far, The-Dream has not offered up a reason for his departure.
