Roc Nation Sports has negotiated a reported $240 million contract with the Seattle Mariners for All-Star second baseman and now former New York Yankee Robinson Canó.
Per ESPN, the deal for the 31-year-old Canó (which is technically still pending upon him passing a physical) is for 10 years and boasts a full no-trade clause.
His will be the third-richest deal in Major League Baseball history, behind only Alex Rodriguez’s $252 million 2000 contract with the Texas Rangers and the $275 million contract extension A-Rod signed with the Yankees in 2007.
Canó left powerhouse agent Scott Boras for Jay Z’s agency, prompting speculation that the game’s longtime negotiators may be none too happy about Hova’s foray into the sporting world.
After becoming a licensed sports agent, Hov sold his stake in the Brooklyn Nets and the Barclays Center to avoid conflicts of interest. Canó’s deal was actually negotiated by veteran agent Brodie Van Wagenen.
