The U.S. attorney’s office in Atlanta reported today that Gucci, whose real name is Radric Davis, faces two federal counts of possession of a firearm by a felon after authorities say he was found in possession of guns on two occasions. Gucci was indicted by a federal grand jury Nov. 19.
Prosecutors say Gucci, who was a felon at the time, was found to have a gun on Sept. 12. and was found to have a different gun in his possession two days later, on Sept. 14. They also allege that he acted erratically and threatened people on both occasions.
According to the federal indictments, on Sept. 12, Davis had a Taurus 45-caliber handgun and eight rounds of ammunition. Days later on Sept. 14, the indictment claims he was in possession of a Glock 40-caliber handgun and 11 rounds of ammunition.
If convicted on each count, Davis faces up to 20 years in federal prison and fines up to $500,000, court officials said.
He has been convicted twice, once in Fulton County in 2005 for assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault, and again in Dade County, Fla., that same year for possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, according to court documents.
Gucci will be detained until his trial.
His next federal court hearing is scheduled for early January.
