JAY-Z is the latest guest to appear on the Netflix series, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
After successfully nabbing Barack Obama and George Clooney, Letterman recruited JAY-Z as his latest interviewee for his fourth episode.
In a new clip released by Netflix, the conversation behind Hov and Letterman includes Jay’s thoughts on what makes Snoop Dogg and Eminem great rappers. “You can have a great voice and you can just almost say anything,” he says. “I think Snoop Dogg has a great voice. Like, he can say, ‘One, two, three, and to the four,’ and it’s like, ‘Oh my god.’ It just sounds good, right? It just sounds really good.”
Later, Jay opined that Eminem’s cadence is what makes him such a superior MC. “Or you can be someone like Eminem and just have amazing cadence.” After parsing Em’s intricate flow for the audience, he explained, “It’s percussion inside the music.”
