For everyone in a tizzy over Rihanna’s AMAs doobie hairstyle, this one’s for you. Her hairstylist, Ursula Stephen, did a little interview with Elle magazine to shed some insider light on it. READ IT HERE
While I didn’t necessarily like the doobie, if anyone had a high chance of pulling it off, it was Bad Gal RiRi. It looked a little better when the rhinestone bobby pins were in, but if anything I wished we could have lost the pins altogether…. Well, I guess that’s a beehive so I digress. Despite it all, two good things came out of it. First, the up-do really causes you to focus on just how stunning this girl is – from the face all the way down to her feet. She is gorgeous. Secondly, styles out of the box & worn with confidence inspire others to be just as bold and creative. That’s what makes entertainment and rock n roll so enticing – it sparks thought and discussion. Hate it or love it, that’s what this style did and so for that, I could never really call this doobie a miss. It completed it’s mission. It had everyone talking.
And most importantly with doobie and all, RiRi still looked better than her peers at the ceremony. Ciara was a close second, but honestly I didn’t care for her short bob either. The color was drab and it was a little too messy for me. The dress was beautiful, but RiRi’s was a little more edgy. It is, what it is.
Bed head and all RiRi slays her peers. Isn’t that the real point?
