T-Pain Suing Cash Money Over ‘Tha Carter III’ Royalties

T-Pain has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Cash Money for royalties owed from Lil Wayne’s 2008 album Tha Carter III.

The suit, filed by the singer’s Nappy Boy Entertainment company, claims that T-Pain is owed more than $500,000 for his work on the platinum record. The lawsuit points out that T-Pain produced and was featured on “Got Money,” a single from the album, TMZ reports.

Lil Wayne has been embroiled in his own lawsuit against Cash Money since 2015. In addition to seeking $51 million in money owed from the label, Wayne was also suing for the rights to be a joint copyright holder for all of Young Money’s recordings. Young Money is an imprint of the Cash Money label, which is distributed by Republic Records.

In 2016, David Banner sued Young Money for royalties from his production work on The Carter III; He produced the tracks “La La” and “Pussy Monster.” Banner claimed he was owed more than $150,000 at the time.
