Every time this guy takes one step forward, he takes two back.
During a recent interview with Philadelphia’s Hot 107.9, the emcee recalled how he and then-Sen. Obama used to be cool when he was plotting a run for the White House.
“Oh you talking about how he use to come and visit me and my mother and tell me he’s about to run for President?” Kanye asked before noting that President Obama’s opinion of him only seemed to change after his incident with Taylor Swift. “I just think that we’re pop icons and the President likes to use that type of thing just to be down.”
But of course it all turned south when President Obama called him a jackass.
“Oh, [Obama] talking about how he use to come and visit me and my mama and tell me he’s about to run for President? I just think that we’re pop icons and the President likes to use that type of thing just to be down,” he said. “People were fine with me being everyone’s punching bag for about five years. This is the person we love to hate so if you want to distract people from everything that’s going on or you gotta a problem just say that you hate Kanye. There’s gonna be thirty other people who say they hate Kanye and that was kinda my position in culture and he kinda used that too. [He said] ‘Oh, he’s a jackass” ’cause that’s how the world felt but I don’t care if someone is the President or not. I care about thoughts and how you are helping people and what you bring to the world. My music brings joy to people. What I create brings joy to people. Me? It’s not about me.”
“I’m not gonna mention [Obama] no more I’m passed that. That’s out my thoughts. That’s lowering my priority of thinking at this point.”
