Fox is teaming with wrapper-actor-producer T.I.and Jerry Bruckheimer to develop a police drama titled “Atlanta’s Most Wanted.” The drama will star T.I. as Marcus Armstrong, a man born in Atlanta to an infamous criminal father who is recruited to be part of a new vice squad that tackles the growing criminal elements in his hometown. Marcus’ involvement will jeopardize his own long-held secret that threatens to upend his entire life.
Rodney Barnes (Everybody Hates Chris, The Boondocks) will pen the script.
“Atlanta’s Most Wanted” comes as T.I. has been ramping up his film and TV portfolio. On the TV side, he is teaming with Kevin Hart to develop single-camera comedy The Studio at Showtime. He also has VH1 docuseries Family Hustle, which recently wrapped its sixth season — including its 100th episode — to strong returns for the cable network. On the film side, he begins production this week on The Trap, a feature comedy in which he stars alongside Mike Epps that he’ll also produce via his Grand Hustle Films banner. In July, he begins filming Marvel’s Ant-Man sequel, where he will reprise his role from the first film.
“I am honored to partner with Fox and Bruckheimer on what is truly a passion project for me. It’s going to be amazing to see my city represented in this fashion,” T.I. said.
