Yesterday (April 25), Beyonce announced her newly-launched scholarship program for young women in honor of her Peabody winning album Lemonade. Well to no surprise, she has got the seal of approval from the former First Lady, Michelle Obama.
The initiative caught the eye of Obama, who tweeted: “Always inspired by your powerful contributions Beyonce. You are a role model for us all. Thank you for investing in our girls.” Aside from being close friends, Beyonce and Obama are bonded in their advocacy for young women’s rights to education. Obama launched Let Girls Learn in 2015, an initiative to help assist young women everywhere to have greater access to education. The charity raised more than $3.5 billion in a little over a year since its debut, according to the Independent.
