Well Pusha T is becoming quite the interviewer these days. Just days ago an interview he conducted with Desiigner hit stands and now he has sat down with filmmaker AvaDuvernay on the significance behind her newest film 13th, released in theaters on Oct. 7.
Ava DuVernay’s documentary 13th is based on the 13th amendment, and sheds light on the increasingly high rate of mass incarceration within America. “Everybody knows the 13th amendment of the constitution says that there should be no slavery in the United States,” DuVernay says in the clip. “Most people don’t know that that is a lie.” Her documentary takes the 13th amendment and aims to expose its “loophole” that subtly states that slavery can indeed exist if a person is presumed to be a criminal.
