Lil Wayne just scored a small victory in his year long litigation against Birdman.
If you recall Wayne has maintained that he is owed millions from Cash Money, filing a $51 million lawsuit against his former label and mentor in January of 2015 for unpaid advances and joint copyright holdings over all Young Money Entertainment records. With Weezy claiming that Birdman spent most of their $100 million Young Money advance, a judge has now ordered Birdman to show his financial records to the court, TMZ is reporting.
Not going down without a fight, Birdman now maintains that Cash Money hasn’t kept the best accounting records so he’s not sure where the money is. Birdman’s lawyers refer to the record keeping by saying, “It is what it is.” In response, a judge has given Birdman 30 days to pull together the requisite paperwork, or find someone who can.
Still, just weeks ago, Birdman had plans to mend his relationship with Wayne. “He’s still my son. I don’t like how a lot of this shit went down, definitely don’t like a lot of shit he had said, but at the end of the day, I would never in my life say nothing negative about him.” Wayne meanwhile has kept a fairly consistent attitude, yelling “Fuck Cash Money” on songs and stage.
