When video surfaced Monday night (July 4) of two white Baton Rouge police officers killing 37-year-old Alton Sterling, it didn’t take long for the internet to react.
The disturbing video shows the officers tackling Sterling, who is black, to the ground while the second officer shouts, “He’s got a gun” and then “he’s going for the gun,” before firing shots. The officers then fire six shots to the chest and head area of Sterling while they were on top of him. Hours later news of Philando Castile begins to circulate. Philando, a 32-year-old black man from Minnesota, was shot four times and killed by police during a routine traffic stop in a St. Paul suburb on Wednesday night (7/6). His girlfriend live streamed the moments after his death.
As the country now mourns yet another black American killed by police and almost two years following Eric Garner’s death, Drake, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, The Game, Kanye West and others share their reaction to his murder.
If all lives matter… SHOW US!!! Prove it! Show us our bodies hold the same value. There is no excuse for the slaughter. None.
