If you haven’t noticed, streaming is close to becoming the new wave replacing traditional music purchases. In the meantime … until it makes the official switch from the physical-to-digital transformation at the dawn of the 21st century, fans find the single splitting in two, so to speak, as listeners make the choice between downloading and streaming.
So far in 2016, Drake – with five tracks in the Top 25 below and just south of 1.5 billion streams altogether – has emerged as streaming’s dominant figure, while Justin Bieber, with three entries, has shown his ability to balance himself between the two spheres.
Not surprisingly, some new stars—including G-Eazy, Desiigner have racked up serious streams amid the high-end competition. Check out the top 25 streaming & purchased singles.
