Fashion designer Rachel Roy has finally come clean and declared she is not “Becky with the good hair” – the female that Jay Z may have had an alleged affair with.
Rachel created an uproar when she made an Instagram post referencing Beyonce’s “Becky” line on her LEMONADE album.
“Good hair, don’t care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always,” the fashion designer writes for the caption of a picture of her and a friend taking a selfie. “Live in the light #nodramaqueens.”
In her statement, Roy says that her post was misunderstood and seeks to clarify her intentions.
“I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest,” Roy says. “My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors.”
Roy, who used to be married to Hov’s former partner Dame Dash says that the cyber bullying that occurred after she made the initial post should be decried.
“Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats,” she says. “As a mother – and I know many mothers would agree – I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable.
“I would hope that the media sees the real issue here – the issue of cyber bullying – and how it should not be tolerated by anyone.”
