Did we know that the cassette was quietly creeping it’s way back in the music scene? And Eminem is right on the cusp of it. The Detroit rapper announced Friday that he plans to re-release his 1999 album, The Slim Shady LP, on cassette.
The tweet announcement included a link to Eminem’s Shady Records website, where fans can sign up for early access to the upcoming cassette, along with exclusive merchandise. Currently, there’s no specific release date other than “coming soon.”
The Slim Shady LP, Eminem’s second album, was released in February 23, 1999. It debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The set included such popular tracks as “My Name Is,” “Just Don’t Give a F–k” and “Guilty Conscience.”
Eminem has been laying low as of late, but is scheduled to perform at three upcoming South American Lollapalooza festivals, starting with Sao Paulo, Brazil, on March 12.
