Thursday (Feb 11), Kanye West debuted his Yeezy Season 3 collection and The Life of Pablo album at Madison Square Garden. For Ye it was a dream come true and by most others it was a huge success… But not everyone was happy. A model in the show claims he was not paid for his work.
The model took to Instagram to air his grievances:
Lmao I was on the megatron at Madison for yeezy 3. s**t was trash. Kanye finnessed 1200 young black adults into working as extras for free to a sold out white crowd that was screaming “all day nigga”. We didn’t find out we weren’t getting paid til 6am. He sent us to jersey and put us in Salvation Army clothes (not yeezy, my pants were carhartt and my shirt was American apparel). I jugged some sambas from wardrobe though.
Catching wind quickly, a rep for Kanye West has offered the following statement about the extra’s claims of not being paid.
A professional casting company was hired to manage the process. Extras were paid and meal tickets given as promised regardless if they were used in the actual show or not. Although the predominance of the cast members were thrilled to be involved, the days were long and the harsh weather conditions were challenging for all. Kanye is incredibly grateful to everyone who dedicated their time and worked tirelessly to help bring his vision for YEEZY SEASON 3 come to life.
Translation: Move on kid. Show’s over.
