According to published reports, DMX was found in a Yonkers hotel parking lot not breathing and without a pulse after collapsing.
Yonkers police immediately began performing CPR upon arrival and his pulse returned roughly a minute later.
“This was an excellent job by the officers and they definitely saved the life,” Lt. Patrick McCormack told the Daily News, without naming the rapper. “They found him in a lifeless condition with no breathing. They were able to bring back some breathing.”
A parking lot witness told police DMX, 45, had consumed an undisclosed powdery substance before he dropped to the concrete. The officers then gave the rapper Narcan — a substance used as an antidote for narcotic drug overdoses — before rushing him to a New York area hospital. Citing privacy laws, McCormack could only say that the cops treated an unconscious 45-year-old man in that Ramada parking lot.
DMX is now in stable condition and is currently resting at the hospital where he was treated. He is not expected to receive criminal charges for the incident.
In July, X was sentenced to six months in jail for failing to pay $400,000 worth of child support. He was eventually released two months later after a judge tabled the rest of his sentence, but he was arrested again in December after he missed a court hearing.
