Just after her explosive Super Bowl half time performance, Beyonce announced her first headlining stadium tour this summer with the 40-date Formation tour, set to begin April 27.
Tickets will go on sale next week (Feb 9), starting with an Amex pre-sale. The tour’s 40 shows will be split fairly evenly between North America and the U.K. and Europe, with Canada and the U.S. to run through mid-June. The U.K./Europe leg will start in mid-June and run through July.
News of Beyonce’s upcoming stadium trek arrives on the heels of her new song “Formation,” which was released with an accompanying music video on Saturday (Feb. 6), the day before her performance at Super Bowl 50.
If the past is any indication, the Formation Tour should be successful. Her Mrs. Carter World Tour of 2013-2014 grossed $212 million from attendance of nearly 2 million to 126 shows, according to Billboard Boxscore. Following that tour, she launched the On The Run co-headlining stadium run with her husband, Jay Z, which grossed $96 million from 832,769 tickets sold to just 19 shows in North America.
Support on the Formation tour is still to be determined. Depending on the market, ticket prices will range from $250 to $300 on the high end, down to $65. No tour sponsor has been named as of yet.
