Billboard has named Drake the R&B/Hip-Hop Artist of the Year in its year-end report.
It’s no secret he’s experienced an overwhelming amount of commercial success this year with the surprise release of If Youre Reading This Its Too Late and a slew of singles.
Billboard went on to award Fetty Wap the title of Top New Artist. And it’s no surprise. He’s the first act to simultaneously have his first four singles in the top 10 of Hot Rap Songs. Fetty Wap finishes as the third-best R&B/Hip-Hop Artist behind The Weeknd.
The No. 4 top R&B/Hip-Hop artist is also the year’s top female act: Nicki Minaj. The Pinkprint (released in December of 2014) ruled as the No. 4 Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album of the year, while she claimed five tracks in the top 40 of the year-end Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
The publication tabulated sales numbers from December 6, 2014 to November 28, 2015.
