Jay Z & Alicia Keys Tapped As Keynote Speakers For Harvard’s African American Student Union Conference

Jay Z and Alicia Keys will be sharing their words of wisdom with Harvard students next year.

Harvard Business School’s African American Student Union will launch their annual H. Naylor Fitzhugh Conference from Feb. 5-7, 2016. Hov and Alicia will serve as keynote speakers for the event, alongside American Express CEO Kennth Chenault, and managing director of Bain Capital, Deval Patrick.

The conference will shed light on highlighting Black businesses, impactful networking events, TED talks and panel discussions.

Titled “Transcend: Redefining Expectations,” a statement on the AASU website reads, “We aim to celebrate African-American achievements, inspire many new milestones, and provide a forum for attendees to take on issues facing our community such as: What is the African-American business community’s response to social injustice? Where do African-Americans fit in to the ever expanding definition of diversity?”

Harvard University has been in the news lately, in terms of the music industry, after they awarded Nas with the W.E.B. DuBois Medal for his impact on African American culture. The Ivy League school also established a fellowship in Nas’ name two years ago, which aims “to seek projects from scholars and artists that build on the rich and complex hip-hop tradition; to respect that tradition through historically grounded and contextualized critical insights; and most importantly, to represent one’s creative and/or intellectually rigorous contribution to hip-hop and the discourse through personal and academic projects.”
