In a series of interviews from numerous people who claim to closely know Beyonce, J. Randy Taraborrelli has released Becoming Beyoncé, an unauthorized biography.
Some tea the book is expected to deliver:
On Jay Z’s alleged affair with Rihanna
“It was all a stunt,” said Jonathan Hay – publicist for both Jay Z and Rihanna – who has made the same admission several times in interviews about the then 17 year-old Rihanna. The bogus rumor was spread to boost her first single “Pon de Replay.”
Jay Z’s only complaint when the story was being spun was “Dude, she’s a minor!” according to Taraborrelli.
Despite the fact that it was fabricated, Taraborrelli shares that the rumor did drive a wedge between Beyoncé and Jay Z. “Beyoncé didn’t know what to make of this, and it actually ended up breaking them up for a time,” he claims. “They spent maybe a year apart from each other because Beyoncé just wasn’t sure of what to make of the situation with Rihanna.”
“It’s safe to say that Rihanna and Beyonce are friends,” Taraborelli adds of the singers’ current relationship.
On Mathew Knowles’ baby rumors.
Perhaps one of the more outrageous allegations in the book involves Alex Wright, the former girlfriend of Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles. According to Taraborrelli, Wright claims that when she was pregnant, Mathew suggested she give the child to Beyonce and Jay Z to adopt. “I doubt that he even approached Beyoncé with the idea.”
On Faking her baby bump.
As for speculation that Beyoncé had a fake baby bump when she was pregnant with Blue Ivy, Taraborrelli insists there is no truth to that. “It was so ridiculous, but it became such a huge headlining story,” he says. “I mean, it just shows you how big she is as an icon in our culture.”
