It’s not surprising that Drake’s “Hotline Bling” music video took social media by storm after its release on Tuesday night (Oct 19). But hours after it debuted, D.R.A.M. took to Twitter to express some frustration over the song.
D.R.A.M., who was actually performing in Toronto on Chance the Rapper’s “Family Matter” tweeted:
“After my performance all I’m seeing is Cha Cha/Hotline Bling comparisons on my timeline,” tweeted D.R.A.M. shortly after Drake’s video released. “Ni**as want to know how I feel about that… Yeah, I feel I got jacked for my record…But I’m GOOD.”
Premiered back in July on OVO Sound Radio, many listeners, websites and Beats 1 presumed “Hotline Bling” was a remix of D.R.A.M.’s “Cha Cha.” Produced by Nineteen85, Drake’s catchy dance single now sits at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts, on the brink of becoming the Canadian rapper’s first-ever No. 1 record.
