Earlier this week, Tip made waves when he appeared on Hot 97. While he explained why he distanced himself from Iggy Azalea, many interpreted as an ending to their business relationship … which led Iggy to of course respond on Twitter and state she wasn’t aware of any issue with her Grand Hustle boss.
Well, Tip has now clarified his original comments in an interview with AP, and says that he is still working with Iggy and that she remains signed to his label, Grand Hustle. Tip explained that his original comments were taken out of context and that she is like his little sister.
“That’s still my partner,” T.I. said about Iggy. ”Her life has taken her in a different direction. My life is still as it was before. But Iggy is doing what she feels makes Iggy happy. That’s what she should do. We’re focused on making the next Iggy record and dodge the same adversities we faced last time.”
Tip also admits that Iggy hadn’t reached out to him but he was fully aware of the tweets that were sent out from her regarding the situation. “We speak to each other without having to speak to each other,” he said. “It’s funny sometimes, but we’re straight.”
